Balthasar Ress and Storck Bicycle present joint anniversary project

The two premium manufacturers from the Rheingau-Taunus district have joined forces to offer a special edition of wine and gin as part of their company anniversaries - 150 years of Balthasar Ress, 25 years of Storck.

The first contact between Markus Storck and Balthasar Ress` owner and managing director Christian Ress was made at wineBANK Rheingau, and a long-standing friendship developed from this. For many years, Storck and Ress have been working on joint projects, such as the "One of Seven wine" or their own Storck events at Balthasar Ress on site. As both Storck and Balthasar Ress are celebrating their company anniversary in 2020, this cooperation has come about via a special limited edition of wine and gin. Balthasar Ress itself was successfully involved with a drinks bar at Storck's 25th anniversary celebrations in September. Wine and gin were on offer. The guests were delighted.

The special editions also had their premiere at the Storck company celebration: the limited 2014 BALTHASAR RESS - "RESSpekt" Rheingau Riesling trocken and the BALTHASAR RESS - "Balthasar's Eleven" London Dry Gin.

The dry Balthasar Ress Rheingau Riesling cuvée "RESSpekt" in the special edition limited to 50 magnums is excellent with 93 Parker points and is thus one of the few German wines that have received such a good rating. The world's most famous and influential wine critic and eponym of the "Parker points", Robert Parker, wrote: "The wine displays a clear, very ripe and stewed Riesling aroma on the nose with some coolish wet stone flavors. Full-bodied, round and powerful on the palate, this is an elegant, very aromatic and fruit intense Riesling full of tension and wild expression. Provided with a fine acidity, a firm structure and very good length, this compact and complex Riesling benefits a lot from massive aeration (days are better than hours here)."

At 47%, the gin has a relatively high alcohol content - an important quality characteristic. The result is a relatively "broad-shouldered" and aromatic gin, which plays out its strengths especially together with tonic as a gin and tonic. The category "London Gin" is a legally defined category. It defines the "purest" and "highest" category in the gin sector. In this category, for example, in contrast to the other categories, no "natural and/or nature-identical flavoring substances and/or flavoring extracts" may be used.
